Selatria -- Battle System Preview: Team Attacks

Happy October!

I've been working on Selatria (as usual), and I'm working on the concept of Team Attacks. (Which is the nice way of saying that I'm breaking the rules of a traditional turn-based battle system.)

Anyway, here's a sample of what's to come in the battle system.
There will be more complex magic and attack chains in the future depending on different party members. (As well as more eloquent animations. Need animators on the team, but that's for a different post.)



Right now as it is, team attacks are kind of random chains onto another ability.

As for the player, it would be kind of confusing to differentiate between abilities that chain and abilities that do not, so I'm considering having Team Attacks only execute on certain abilities tentatively called "Triggers".

Trigger abilities will have a special icon associated with it, and are guaranteed to link additional abilities on as long as the people participating have sufficient AP. For example, Melanie's "Fire Blade" and "Ice Blade" are trigger abilities.
